Interesting Research Regarding The Effect of How We Spend Our Money On Our Happiness & Gratitude
Research by Thomas Gilovich, a professor of psychology at Cornell University shows the impact of how we spend our money on happiness: It shows that people are happier when they spend their money on experiences, like a vacation or a dinner out, than when they spend on material things, like a new TV*.
Impact of how we spend our money on gratefulness:
Gilovich has now found that the same goes for gratitude: People report feeling more grateful for experiential purchases than for material purchases*.
As we have discussed in our parenting classes in Trailmap for Life, we have a choice everyday in terms of the attitude that we will have for that day. If we choose to be grateful for all that we have, instead of angry or upset about the things we don’t have, we will be much happier also.
These are important lessons to teach our kids.
Discuss your own personal experience in these areas:
Have you felt happier when you have spent money on experiences versus on material things?
Have you felt more grateful for experiential purchases than for material purchases?

The website sends out the invites, tracks responses, and then throughout the program sends out automated communications & reminders based on the meeting schedule you set.
